Universal birth registration for street children in DKI Jakarta Baseline Survey

As part of the Street to School – Count Every Child Birth Registration project in Jakarta, Indonesia (funded by Aviva and Plan UK) a comprehensive baseline survey was conducted. The project aims to register 1500 street children and raise awareness amongst 3500 children and their parents and caregivers.

Between October – November 2012, the baseline survey was undertaken in DKI Jakarta. Executing it in 5 areas in the city (Central Jakarta, West Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta), the survey has been successful in conducting quantitative interview with 567 parents and 700 street children. In addition, an in-depth interview was completed with 41 key stakeholders. There were also a literature review regarding all regulations involved in the process of birth registration and street children, which covered International Law/Convention, Constitution, and National and District Regulation of DKI Jakarta.
